Founded in April 2000, the Institute of Environmental Rehabilitation and Conservation (ERECON) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to fostering ecological sustainability across Asia.

As agricultural and urban development continue to shape the region, ERECON works at the intersection of environmental protection and community empowerment, ensuring that economic growth and natural ecosystems thrive together.

  • We focus on four core pillars to achieve long-term ecological balance and support local communities across Southeast Asia, with key project hubs in Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, and the Philippines:

    • Environmental Rehabilitation & Conservation

      We conduct field research and implement localized plans to restore degraded lands, rebuild forest ecosystems, and mitigate environmental risks like soil erosion and pollutant runoff.

    • Sustainable Use of Natural Resources

      We partner with local communities to promote sustainable agricultural practices, natural resource management, and traditional rural landscape regeneration (satoyama), safeguarding local livelihoods and biodiversity.

    • Environmental Education & Technical Training

      Through hands-on training for farmers, local government departments, and primary schools, we build local capacity to ensure conservation practices endure for generations.

    • Support for Non-Profit & Academic Initiatives

      We support local NGOs and facilitate higher education opportunities for students and researchers dedicated to environmental rehabilitation in Asia.
